Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018\/555 of 9 April 2018 concerning a multiannual and coordinated EU monitoring programme for 2019, 2020 and 2021 to ensure compliance with maximum levels for pesticide residues in and on food of plant and animal origin and to assess consumer exposure to those residues was published on 10 April 2018.
\nThis Regulation will enter into force on 1 January 2019.<\/p>\n
Thirty to forty foodstuffs constitute the main components of the diet in the Union.
\nSince pesticide uses change considerably over a three-year period, pesticides must be monitored in these foodstuffs over a series of three-year cycles in order to assess consumer exposure and the application of EU legislation.<\/p>\n
The control will cover 683 samples selected for 36 different food products.
\nThe sampling of these samples shall be distributed among the Member States according to population, with a minimum of 12 samples per product per year.<\/p>\n
