According to the EFSA&#8217;s 2015 scientific opinion, nickel can have both chronic (risk of miscarriage) and acute (eczematous rash) effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The European Commission recommends monitoring the presence of nickel in the following foodstuffs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>food supplements,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>chocolate, chocolate spreads, nut spreads and cocoa beans,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cereal-based products (in particular breakfast cereals, cereal flakes and milled oat products),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ready-to-eat soups,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>coffee,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>tea,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>vegetables,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>seaweed,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>oilseeds,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>soya-based products (such as tofu and soya-based drinks), pulses,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>nuts,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>fish and other seafood products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Sampling procedures and analyses must comply with the requirements set out in Regulation (EC) No 333\/2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The data is to be collected in 2025, 2026 and 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A draft text setting maximum levels for nickel in certain foodstuffs is in the process of being approved at European level.
