{"id":20143,"date":"2020-10-13T09:24:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-13T07:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/?p=20143"},"modified":"2020-10-26T09:28:45","modified_gmt":"2020-10-26T08:28:45","slug":"publication-of-the-2019-rasff-annual-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stagingphytocontrol.shdesign.fr\/en\/regulatory-watch\/publication-of-the-2019-rasff-annual-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Publication of the 2019 RASFF Annual Report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>  [hover_box image=&#8221;\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Fruits-l\u00e9gumes-04.png&#8221;&nbsp;  image_hover=&#8221;\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/actu_publication-rasff-2016_02.jpg&#8221;  link=&#8221;&#8221; target=&#8221;&#8221; ]  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/food\/sites\/food\/files\/safety\/docs\/rasff_annual_report_2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> 2019 RASFF annual report<\/a> for food and feed products has just been published.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, 4,118 notifications were sent through the RASFF\nportal, including 1,173 alert notifications, 546 information for follow-up, 882\nnotifications for information and 1,499 border rejection notifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compared to 2018, the number of alert notifications\ninvolving a serious risk to health increased by 5%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HUMAN FEEDING<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Pathogenic microorganisms:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>575 notifications were reported concerning pathogenic\nmicroorganisms, mainly on products of animal origin. This represents an\nincrease of 17% compared to the year 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Salmonella is the most frequently reported pathogen in food\nin EU member countries (371 notifications, up 51%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The presence of Listeria monocytogenes in cold-smoked fish\nproducts and in ready-to-eat meat products was a major cause of food-borne\noutbreaks in 2019. It has been reported 16 times in French cheeses (often made\nfrom raw milk).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>32 notifications related to Escherichia coli producing\nshigatoxin were issued. Contamination, of animal or human origin, is most often\nfound on meat products (not heat-treated) (15 notifications) and on cheeses (14\nnotifications).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Allergens<\/span>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>194 notifications were issued. They are up 30%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Milk, gluten and soy are the most frequently reported\nallergens, and grains and baked goods are the most frequently reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Very often, traces of allergens are reported in food due to\ncross contamination, for example on the same production lines as other products\ncontaining allergens. This presence of allergens is not regulated at EU level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mycotoxins<\/span>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>534 notifications were issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aflatoxins are the most reported mycotoxins, in particular\non nuts from third countries. The most notified country was Turkey (104\nnotifications).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding ochratoxin A, it is found in raisins and dried\nfigs and Turkey is the most notified country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Pesticides<\/span>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>253 pesticide notifications were issued in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most recurring notifications concerned fruits and\nvegetables whose most common molecule is chlorpyrifos (banned at the start of\nthe year) as well as teas from China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ANIMAL FEED<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of 325 notifications were issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Feed notifications represent around 8% of the total volume\nof RASFF notifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Pathogenic microorganisms:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All 166 notifications concern salmonella, in different types\nof raw materials, but also in pet food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mycotoxins<\/span>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Almost all of the notifications concern aflatoxin reported\nmainly in peanuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Microbial contamination:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the notifications concern too many Enterobacteriaceae in raw materials derived from animal by-products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"591\" height=\"836\" src=\"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/infographie_rapport-annuel-rasff-2019.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19932\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stagingphytocontrol.shdesign.fr\/app\/uploads\/2020\/10\/infographie_rapport-annuel-rasff-2019.png 591w, https:\/\/stagingphytocontrol.shdesign.fr\/app\/uploads\/2020\/10\/infographie_rapport-annuel-rasff-2019-212x300.png 212w, https:\/\/stagingphytocontrol.shdesign.fr\/app\/uploads\/2020\/10\/infographie_rapport-annuel-rasff-2019-103x146.png 103w, https:\/\/stagingphytocontrol.shdesign.fr\/app\/uploads\/2020\/10\/infographie_rapport-annuel-rasff-2019-35x50.png 35w, https:\/\/stagingphytocontrol.shdesign.fr\/app\/uploads\/2020\/10\/infographie_rapport-annuel-rasff-2019-53x75.png 53w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 591px) 100vw, 591px\" \/><\/figure><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[hover_box image=&#8221;\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Fruits-l\u00e9gumes-04.png&#8221;&nbsp; image_hover=&#8221;\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/actu_publication-rasff-2016_02.jpg&#8221; link=&#8221;&#8221; target=&#8221;&#8221; ] The 2019 RASFF annual report for food and feed&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":18012,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[181],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-20143","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-regulatory-watch"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
