{"id":10585,"date":"2019-09-20T10:30:07","date_gmt":"2019-09-20T08:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/?p=10585"},"modified":"2020-11-23T15:35:19","modified_gmt":"2020-11-23T14:35:19","slug":"publication-of-the-rasff-2018-annual-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stagingphytocontrol.shdesign.fr\/en\/non-classifiee\/publication-of-the-rasff-2018-annual-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Publication of the RASFF 2018 Annual Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[hover_box image=&#8221;\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/fruitsl\u00e9gumes.png&#8221;&nbsp; image_hover=&#8221;\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/actu_publication-rasff-2016_02.jpg&#8221; link=&#8221;&#8221; target=&#8221;&#8221; ]<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/food\/sites\/food\/files\/safety\/docs\/rasff_annual_report_2018.pdf\">2018 RASFF annual report<\/a> for food and feed products has just been published.<br \/>\nIn 2018, 3,699 notifications were transmitted through the RASFF portal, including 1,118 alert notifications, 493 follow-up notifications, 675 information notifications and 1,401 border rejection notifications.<br \/>\nCompared to 2017, the number of alert notifications involving a serious health risk has increased by 19%.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>HUMAN FOOD<br \/>\nPathogenic Microorganisms :<br \/>\n492 notifications have been reported concerning pathogenic micro-organisms, mainly on products of animal origin. This represents an increase of 19% compared to 2017.<br \/>\nSalmonella is the most frequently reported pathogen in foodstuffs from EU Member States (246 notifications, up 19%).<br \/>\nContamination by Listeria monocytogenes is mainly found in food of animal origin. Nevertheless, the main outbreak in several food-borne countries linked to frozen maize in 2018 recalled that Listeria contamination could be possible in other foods, particularly in foods that are not heat-treated before consumption. Recurrent notifications have identified the presence of Listeria in cheeses made from raw milk from France.<br \/>\nConcerning noroviruses, 47 notifications were notified mainly on live oysters but also in different types of berries.<br \/>\n28 notifications related to Escherichia coli shigatoxin producer were issued. This contamination was found in meat products without heat treatment and cheese.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Allergens :<br \/>\n149 notifications were issued. They are up 31%.<br \/>\nMilk, gluten and nuts are the most frequently reported allergens and ready meals and snacks are the most frequently reported.<br \/>\nVery often, traces of allergens are reported in food due to cross-contamination, for example on the same production lines as other products containing allergens. This presence of allergens is not regulated at EU level.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mycotoxins :<br \/>\n569 notifications were issued.<br \/>\nAflatoxins are the most commonly reported mycotoxins in 2018 on hazelnuts, nut products and seeds from Argentina, Turkey and the USA.<br \/>\nWith 33 notifications, the number of ochratoxins A in Turkish dried grapes has increased significantly. Other notifications mainly concerned dried figs also from Turkey.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pesticides :<br \/>\n237 pesticide notifications were issued in 2018. They are up 27%.<br \/>\nThe most frequent notifications concerned sweet peppers and lemons from Turkey, dried goji tea and berries from China and rice from India.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ANIMAL FEED<br \/>\nA total of 313 notifications were issued.<br \/>\nFeed notifications represent about 9% of the total volume of RASFF notifications.<\/p>\n<p>Pathogenic microorganisms:<br \/>\nAll 144 notifications concern salmonella, in different types of raw materials, but also in petfood.<\/p>\n<p>Mycotoxins :<br \/>\nAlmost all notifications concern aflatoxin reported mainly in peanuts.<\/p>\n<p>Microbial contamination:<br \/>\nMost notifications concern too many enterobacteriaceae in raw materials derived from animal by-products.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-10555 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Capture-211x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stagingphytocontrol.shdesign.fr\/app\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Capture-211x300.png 211w, https:\/\/stagingphytocontrol.shdesign.fr\/app\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Capture-103x146.png 103w, https:\/\/stagingphytocontrol.shdesign.fr\/app\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Capture-35x50.png 35w, https:\/\/stagingphytocontrol.shdesign.fr\/app\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Capture-53x75.png 53w, https:\/\/stagingphytocontrol.shdesign.fr\/app\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Capture.png 592w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[hover_box image=&#8221;\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/fruitsl\u00e9gumes.png&#8221;&nbsp; image_hover=&#8221;\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/actu_publication-rasff-2016_02.jpg&#8221; link=&#8221;&#8221; target=&#8221;&#8221; ] &nbsp; The 2018 RASFF annual report for food and&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":8606,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1,181],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-10585","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-non-classifiee","category-regulatory-watch"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
