Phytocontrol develops its GMO offer with 5 new accredited events

The laboratory is extending its analytical offer on GMO maize with 5 additional events under accreditation: MON 87403, MON 87411, DP-4114-3, MZHG0JG and MON 87460, and integrating the Pat marker.

Phytocontrol offers GMO screenings by species (Soya, Maize, Rapeseed, Rice, Cotton, Potato, Linseed, Beetroot) and multi-species and carries out these analyses in real-time PCR, with the ability to scan all known markers and target events. This relevant focus makes it possible to cover the entire GMO risk.

As a reminder, GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) are living organisms whose genetic heritage has been modified by human intervention in order to:
– provide some plants with insect resistance,
– to facilitate weeding,
– to increase certain drought tolerance measures.
From a regulatory point of view, the European Union has put in place regulations to give European consumers the freedom to choose whether or not to consume GMOs, requiring that products containing them with a detection threshold above 0.9% be specifically labelled.
