Phytocontrol innovates in species authentication!

Phytocontrol’s R&D team is proud to present its latest innovation: species authentication using NGS technology.

In the current context of crises linked to food fraud, Phytocontrol proposes an innovative new method covering a much wider range of species than traditional methods.

NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) is a new molecular biology technique that can detect, identify and list components of animal or plant origin in a food sample, compared to an evolving database. In addition to the (q)PCR technique that determines the target species (“Is there any beef in my sample?“), the NGS allows the analysis to be refined until all detected species are identified (“In my sample, there are beef, horse and sheep“).

The Phytocontrol solution

To meet this major challenge for the food industry, the laboratory is able to offer 3 types of analyses:
– Meat Packs (more than 6000 species)
– Fish Packs (more than 6000 species)
– Plant Packs (more than 5000 species)

This innovative solution allows you to prove the authenticity of these species in your products with a much more comprehensive coverage than traditional methods.

Phytocontrol’s experts will assist you on these issues related to food fraud and safety.
