Phytocontrol innovates in dithiocarbamate analysis

With its historical expertise in pesticide analysis, Phytocontrol has finalised an unprecedented R&D development to provide professionals in the fruit and vegetable sector with a unique solution for dithiocarbamate analysis.

The three main families of dithiocarbamates:
• Ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamates (Mancozeb, Maneb, Zineb…)
• Propylene bis-dithiocarbamates (Probineb…)
• Dimethyl-dithiocarbamates (Ferbam, Thiram, Ziram…)

Dithiocarbamates are authorized fungicides, commonly applied in France and Europe. Their maximum residual content (MRL) is expressed in CS2. These regulations are problematic in determining the compliance of analysed samples of fruits and vegetables that naturally contain sulphur compounds, such as cabbage, radishes, turnips, leeks, or garlic/onions/shallots.

The Phytocontrol solution

Phytocontrol goes further than regulation to support the sector, and in a new approach, addresses the problem of this usual dosage of CS2 on the fruits and vegetables concerned. The laboratory is able to determine the endogenous (naturally derived from the matrix) or exogenous (derived from a phytosanitary treatment) nature of the presence of CS2. This innovative and accredited analysis makes it possible to research and quantify the three main families of dithiocarbamates
